Three maps for $60.00 Isn’t what I would call bad, but these are definitely three of the more common. I’d most likely personally watch for them for 10-15.00 each, but if I was in a mood I might snatch this for the coolness factor.
Currently in Shroud of the Avatar, one of the more enthusiastic and active parts of the community are those decorating their homes. There is a multitude of reasons for this, but let’s look at it from a logical and straightforward standpoint.
The game is in pre-release stages right now and has not officially launched. Personally, I could play for a year or more the way it is now and not get bored! I think it’s about choosing your attitude and looking at what is present instead of focusing on what is still in development, not going to be done, or isn’t coming for a long time yet.
However one of the most flushed out aspects of the game IS the housing element. Therefore it is straightforward that the players most interested in that would also currently be the ones most interested in the housing. As other areas are fully launched the player interest for those areas will also increase. I LOVE being in a game to be a part of that emerging development.
So knowing all that it’s time to decorate! What better way to do that then to have contests?
From Berek over on the forums:
Get those creative house decorating ideas ready, Avatars! Show the community the curb appeal you can bring to a town as folk walk down the street, and the wonder in the eyes of those who step in to visit your cozy abode. Throw it all up on the walls for this contest and see what sticks!
As the contest progresses, each week on either Monday or Tuesday, we will announce on social media the latest submissions in a Facebook screenshot gallery. Peruse the screenshots there, or go to the forum submission thread to find coordinates to the homes so you can tour them in-game!
Interested in learning more? Head on over and when you post your images be sure to include a dedication to The Caverns for me!
Wow have I been busy! I know many of you by this point are wondering if I fell off the face of the earth and do not care to talk to you anymore.
Where are the Subscription box reviews? Ultima Auction Spotlights?! The movie and book recommendations? The Shroud articles, geek articles, and occasional ramblings? Are you abbonding us??
If you are asking any of these questions I say unto thee, please, allow me some time, and all will come back!
To use the term that is being employed by my employer, I am being “Displaced” at my 9-5 job. The result of this is that I will no longer have my steady employment after Christmas. I do get some severance benefits and getting some unemployment benefits will not be an issue. After working for a company for eleven years I feel no shame in taking a few months of benefits that are meant to be used in exactly this sort of situation so as not to destroy my life.
I find it unlikely I will be hired for any full-time employment with anyone as I have plans, I am not ready to share yet taking place in 2018. It is, therefore, my intent that if necessary, by the time unemployment runs out I am ready to become self-employed. My business is on the verge of being able to do that for me, should I take it full time. There are things I need to do to get it there, and that is why you have not been seeing a lot of me.
Until my regular 9-5 “displacement” takes place, I will still try to get some articles out here and there, but they will be very limited. Once that ends and I have more time to be able to work that into my days, the majority of everything I do will pick up again.
Ultima Auction spotlights will be rarer than they used to be, but only in that I am going to focus on things that are fascinating, unique, rare, etc.. and avoid the more typical stuff.
I would love to work on a new project or two on this site. I don’t want to promise to much as I am still going to need to do a lot for my business to try to pay the bills but I hope to stop working until 10pm+ every day and have a bit more time for some other things.
Been a while since I have done anything new here but I do not have any specific ideas at the moment, so if you have something, share!!
For now, though, while I do have quite a few Shroud of the Avatar articles I want to get out for that part of my reader base until I can get to that; why don’t you pop up a huge bucket of popcorn and let Markee Dragon show you some things are done?
Hopefully, it will not be much longer until I am caught up with everything I do in my life, once again. So that you know, Shroud of the Avatar is partly to blame for that, and I love every minute of my game time! Just wish I could take more!

Watch as the team chats about Release 33 and looks ahead to Release 34. We also answered many player questions, and gave out awesome prizes during the livestream.
Gamezone published an interview with Richard Garriott that you will not want to miss! Titled “An interview with Richard Garriott: How Shroud of the Avatar is looking to change RPGs” by Tom Caswell it is a great interview but be warned, it is also long!
This guy coined the term MMORPG, so it was a delight to sit down with him and pick his brain on his past and future, both of which proved to be equally fascinating.
The Ultima Forever maps have eluded my grasp for a long time now, partly due to my insistence to get a good buy in the past. It’s actually rather interesting that at one time I had spent weeks watching them sell like crazy on Ebay and watched as the price was down to about $20-30.00. One week I loaded up to go to New York to visit Richard Garriott, came home, and saw that I had missed a chance to nab both maps they produced for under $15.00 while I was away. Yes, that still hurts!
I have only seen them go up on Ebay since that time a couple of times and usually for a starting price of about $50.00. Ahh, did that window of opportunity slam shut hard on me!
Another cool SWAG item that Ultima Forever did were the Virtue cards. There was a smaller size set and a larger size set. I have one of them sealed (I believe it’s the larger) and they are pertty neat.
If you didn’t attend or donate to the Hobloth III for a set of trinkets, you still have a chance to get them!
Rustic Dragon did a great job on these type of items for the previous events and they have been very popular in the community. I know that I am getting excited knowing I have a set of these coming to me in the mail from my donation! I also own a set from the Holboth II and they are superb. So if you have any doubts as to whether you want to add these to your colelction, shouldn’t! They are sweet!
One of my favorite websites, SotA housing, added another tool a few months back. It is called “House Lot Fence Calculator.” Directly on the internet site, you can determine how much fencing you need, what quantity, what it’s going to cost, and more.
I have not had a need to use this one yet, but much like their Player Owned Town Housing calculator, I am sure when the time comes I will be very appreciative!
Markee Dragon is still putting out videos that will be of help to many, continually. So grab yourself a bucket of fried frog legs and enjoy!
Hey, if you find these articles of use, show a little love back and toss me a $1.00 or two via donation or subscribing to my Patreon. The cost of living is not going down, and the costs to keep everything running, go up every year.
If that doesn’t sway you, consider this. I am losing game time when I do these!
That is it for now, but yes there is a part Seven, which shall be the last in this “catch-up” series. I still have enough notes to do another piece. So watch for that to come soon!
